Against the backdrop of intimidating calls for the redeployment of Ondo State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Mrs. Oluwatoyin Babalola ahead of next Saturday's governorship election in Ondo State, a rights activist, Mrs. Roland Mercy, the CEO of MercySpeaks Initiatives for Development and Empowerment has said Ondo State civil society organizations will not sit back and allow politicians play politics or use political sentiment to suffer an innocent woman.
Mrs. Roland made this assertion while speaking with journalists at the end of a stakeholders meeting with the Chairman of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Akure.
Mrs. Roland while 〽️ restating the importance of peaceful conduct before, during and after the governorship elections said Mrs. Babalola must not be harassed on the basis of being a woman.
She further assured that CSOs are ready to work with all parties towards ensuring a seamless electoral process where only credible and choice candidates of voters emerge.
Describing Mrs. Babalola as competent and ready for the assignment, Mrs. Roland applauded INEC chairman, Prof Mahmood Yakubu for showing high level maturity in handling the matter.
