View all magazinesELECTION: ONDO FIBAN ELECTS COMRADE RAFIU IJAWOYE OLUWADARE AS NEW CHAIRMAN
Members of Freelance and Independent Broadcasters Association of Nigeria (FIBAN), Ondo State chapter has elected Comrade (Engr.) Rafiu Ijawoye Oluwadare as the new state chairman.
He emerged victorious with 52 votes out of a total of 58 accredited delegates for the election.
Speaking shortly after the results were declared, the new chairman appreciated God for the opportunity while also extending gratitude to members for their magnanimity and love.
Comrade Ijawoye who described the election as seamless and historic in the last decade noted that all members showed commitment towards making it a peaceful exercise
On some of his plans for the association, Comrade Ijawoye assured that under his watch, FIBAN Ondo State will take the leap for the better.
"I want to use this opportunity to assure all members that this new administration will rebuild FIBAN; we will take it to the next level by reforming it to become the cynosure of all eyes across states of the federation", he said
Among other plans of his administration include fostering good relationship with media establishment to increase slots for members as well as organizing training workshop to build the capacity of newly elected officers in the state towards repositioning the association.
He called on members to support the administration to succeed as he cannot do it alone just as he urged the state government to provide assistance for the association.
"We need government assistant even as we kickstart plans to complete our secretariat. We are also soliciting for 18 seater bus to ease logistics for our members who want to attend national congresses", he further stressed while appreciating members of the national body for standing by the state chapter.
Other officers who were elected unopposed during the election include Comrade Oladeji Elijah Olasebikan as Vice Chairman with 48 votes, Comrade Benson Aladegboye as General Secretary with 46 votes and Comrade (Engr). Dauda Tijani Ahmed as Treasurer with 49.
Others are Comrade Peter Ogunleye as Financial Secretary with 45 votes, Comrade Comfort Bosede Ariyo as Publicity Secretary with 48 votes, Conrade Kehinde Badmus as Auditor with 43 votes and Comrade Quazeem Aruna as Chief Whip with 53.
